Floodlights are mainly used for security and safety purposes. The function of a floodlight is to bathe an area with light. Floodlights are highly effective in dark areas, where there is not a lot of natural lighting.
It depends on what you are looking for. In terms of energy efficiency, LED floodlights are up to 90% more efficient than their halogen counterparts. PIR floodlights have motion sensing technology, adding an additional layer of security to your home or workplace. Portable worklights are ideal for on-site work.
The wattage of the floodlight indicates how powerful the lighting performance will be. A 10W or 30W floodlight is ideal for smaller areas, like your driveway or garden. To illuminate bigger areas, like roads or car parks, you will need to invest in something more powerful, such as a 200W floodlight.
Wattage measures the amount of power used by a bulb, whereas lumens measure the amount of light emitted by a bulb (or the brightness). The higher the wattage, the more light is emmited. As lighting becomes more energy efficient, the same level of brightness (or lumens) is being achieved at a lower wattage.
