Product Overview

ST3232CDR is a RS-232 driver and receiver. It is a 3V powered EIA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 communication interface with low power requirements and high data-rate capabilities. This device has a proprietary low dropout transmitter output stage providing true RS-232 performance from 3 to 5.5V supplies. The device requires only four small 0.1mF standard external capacitors for operation from a 3V supply. The device is guaranteed to run at data rates of 250kbps while maintaining RS-232 output levels. Typical applications are notebooks, subnotebooks and palmtop computers, battery-powered equipment, hand-held equipment, peripherals, and printers.
  • VCC power supply current is 0.3mA typ at no load, VCC=3V ±10%, TA=25°C
  • Data transfer rate is 300kbps min at RL=3kohm, CL2=1000pF one transmitter switching
  • Propagation delay input to output is 0.2µs typ at RXIN=RXOUT, CL=150pF
  • Transition slew rate is 6V/µs min at TA=25°C, RL=3kohm to 7kohm, VCC=3.3V, CL=150pF to 1000pF
  • Input leakage current is ±0.01µA typ at TA=25°C
  • Transmitter output resistance is 300 ohm min at VCC=V+=V-=0V, VOUT=±2V
  • Transmitter propagation delay difference is 100ns typ at TA=25°C
  • Output short circuit current is ±60mA max at VCC=3V or 5V, VOUT=±12
  • TSSOP16 package
  • 0 to 70°C temperature range
